Abstract
In order to assess the basis of support and opposition to the Criminal Code provision that judges pay particular attention to the circumstances of aboriginal offenders in sentencing, a small scale survey in Toronto was carried out. It is reasonably clear that support for special attention being given to aboriginal status at sentencing is related to broader views about how crime is controlled.
