1er paragraphe : L’environnement figure parmi les domaines où la politique de l’administration de Donald Trump s’est montrée particulièrement active. Le monde entier a pu le constater avec le retrait spectaculaire des Etats-Unis de l’accord de Paris sur le climat annoncé le 1er juin 2017. Le front intérieur n’est pas en reste cependant. Dès les premiers jours de son entrée en fonction en janvier 2017, la nouvelle administration effaçait purement et simplement la page dédiée au changement climatique du site web de la maison blanche, pour la remplacer par un « Plan Energie pour l’Amérique d’abord ». Elle autorisait aussitôt la construction de la phase finale du Keystone Pipeline reliant les forages de l’ouest canadien aux raffineries de l’Illinois et du Texas, précédemment suspendue par l’administration Obama. L’Agence de Protection de l’Environnement (EPA) annonçait également le retrait du Plan pour l’Energie Propre (Clean Power Plan) élaboré en 2015 pour limiter les émissions de gaz à effet de serre dans la production d’électricité, et le « retour du charbon ». Elle a depuis considérablement étendu et assoupli les autorisations de forage d’hydrocarbures, notamment de gaz de schiste.
