La Operatoria Dental es la disciplina odontológica que enseña a prevenir, diagnosticar y curar enfermedades, restaurar lesiones y alteraciones o defectos que puede sufrir un diente; forma parte de la carrera universitaria de Odontología y constituye un área científica para el desarrollo del Trabajo Especial de Grado (TEG), el cual puede ser analizado a través de la bibliometría. El objetivo del presente estudio fue identificar el comportamiento de indicadores bibliométricos de los trabajos especiales de grado de pregrado de Operatoria Dental de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad de Los Andes (FOULA) periodo 2005-2017. La investigación fue descriptiva, de diseño documental. El material de análisis, estuvo conformado por los TEG de pregrado de Operatoria Dental de la FOULA en físico y digital de la biblioteca, el consejo técnico y la base de datos del Departamento de Investigación de la FOULA durante el periodo 2005-2017. De 56 TEG del área de Operatoria, se realizaron 4 trabajos por año, las citas Vancouver se presentaron en un 63%, con un promedio de 60 referencias por TEG, predominio del tipo de investigación descriptiva con 28% y diseño experimental con 88%; la técnica de recolección destacada fue la observación con 21% y el análisis de datos descriptivos ANOVA con 36 menciones.
