Abstract
Dans l’ensemble, les publicitaires français pensent que la publicité efficace est forcément née aux États-Unis. Comme le confirment les témoignages de Pierre Herbin, et malgré quelques résistances, beaucoup des « créatifs » français se sont d’ailleurs inspirés des outils et méthodes de leurs homologues américains, y compris en matière de conception-rédaction. L’application de ces outils et méthodes n’a pas toujours été fructueuse : les marchés français et américains ne sont pas les mêmes. Les publicitaires français semblent ignorer leur propre histoire. Découvrir les concepteurs-rédacteurs, l’origine de cette profession, les différences entre concepteurs-rédacteurs français et américains ; connaître les sources et vecteurs de l’américanisme et les similitudes qui peuvent exister entre « écrivains en publicité » hexagonaux et « copy-writers » constituent autant d’éléments susceptibles d’apporter un éclairage.
