Abstract
O tratamento quantum-mecânico de processos moleculares constitui uma parte importante nacompreensão dos fenômenos atômicos e moleculares básicos. A modelagem destes sistemasbaseados nos primeiros princípios é uma fonte de compreensão de comportamentos dinâmicosfundamentais. A determinação dos estados quânticos dos sistemas moleculares é realizado pormeio da Teoria Quântica, em geral, na formulação não-relativística, e compreende váriasetapas. Na maioria dos cálculos em física molecular usa-se a aproximação de Born eOppenheimer, que permite a separação entre o movimento eletrônico e nuclear. Essaaproximação identifica diferentes escalas de energias: eletrônica, de rotação da molécula, e devibração nuclear.
