Abstract
Cuzcatlán, donde bate la mar del sur (1986) de Manlio Argueta, nos brinda una representación del mundo rural salvadoreño, cuyo trasfondo es el conflicto militar que vivió El Salvador durante la década de los ochenta, y que concluiría al firmarse los Acuerdos de Paz el 16 de enero de 1992. Este trabajo analiza el viaje que la protagonista del relato, Lucía Martínez, debe realizar para integrarse a un Comité Revolucionario que juzgará al cabo Pedro Martínez, miembro del ejército salvadoreño capturado por las fuerzas guerrilleras del FMLN (Frente Farabundo Martí para la Liberación Nacional)1 y a quien se acusa de la muerte de varios campesinos.
