Le Québec est reconnu pour la générosité de sa politique familiale, notamment en raison de la qualité de ses services de garde à la petite enfance et en milieu scolaire offerts à faible coût. Qu’arrive-t-il lorsque, de concert avec la fermeture des écoles, ces services ne sont soudainement plus disponibles en temps de pandémie ? À l’aide de données d’enquête en 2018 et 2020, cette recherche offre des pistes de réflexion sur ces questions en documentant et en comparant l’expérience de conciliation emploi-famille des parents québécois avant et pendant la crise sanitaire. Les résultats montrent que, paradoxalement, une plus grande proportion de répondants – hommes et femmes – qualifient leur conciliation comme étant ‘facile’ en 2020, un constat qui ne change pas lorsque les données sont analysées par catégorie professionnelle. Nous identifions trois facteurs ayant contribué à réduire le conflit emploi-famille au printemps 2020, soit la mise en place du télétravail, l’empathie manifestée par les employeurs et les effets durables de la politique familiale sur les inégalités de genre.
