Au cours des dernières décennies, plusieurs syndromes ont vu le jour, autant dans la littérature biomédicale et sociale que dans la littérature pseudo-scientifique. En particulier, le syndrome de la femme battue est régulièrement soulevée lors d’expertise en Cour dans plusieurs pays depuis quelques années. L’objectif de cette recherche est de repérer et d’évaluer la qualité scientifique d’articles traitant du syndrome de la femme battue afin de simuler une démarche valable et réaliste de recherche documentaire réalisée par un témoin expert. Trois banques de données ont été consultées : PsychINFO (1984-2002), Medline (1966-2002), et National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS) (1972-2002).
