Abstract
In this work, we will present the influence of linguistic ideas of Jeronimo Soares Barbosa (1737-1816), which are present in his Gramatica filosofica (1822), in the Brazilian gramaticography of the 19th Century. Analysing the application of linguistic knowledge in seven Brazilian grammars of great relevance in Brazilian scene, this research also aimed to rebuild the linguistic thoughts presents in the 19th Century in Brazil. The strong influence of Jeronimo Soares Barbosa`s grammar in our gramaticography could be noticed beyond the linguistic paradigm to which he belonged, exceeding new frontiers in the country, when, under the aegis of historical-comparative studies from the last quarter of the century, we find works which continue to reproduce some concepts inherited from old school
