Abstract
El material humano (2009) de Rodrigo Rey Rosa relata los desafíos de la novelización que acomete el escritor del Archivo de la Policía Nacional de Guatemala. En el presente trabajo analizo la obra como una novela latinoamericana global que desarrolla una reflexión sobre la literatura guatemalteca y las interrelaciones literarias en el marco de la globalización. Sostengo que la autoficción adopta la forma del cuaderno de bitácoras para tratar del papel del escritor a través de la representación de su labor creativa. De este modo, se escenifica la subjetividad cosmopolita y exílica de un escritor en cuya perspectiva distanciada recae la posibilidad de plantear nuevos interrogantes estéticos y políticos sobre Guatemala.
