Abstract
Cet article interroge la valeur patrimoniale d’un lieu. Partant de l’idée que celle-ci fluctue en fonction du contexte historique, et des critères que l’on se fixe, il pose la question de son fondement. Cette valeur patrimoniale repose-t-elle sur un « désir de paysage » ou sur une « volonté de développement territorial » ? Dans quelle mesure ce désir et cette volonté, le paysage et le territoire, recouvrent-ils des notions qui s’excluent ? L’analyse se resserre autour du parc à fabriques du baron de Castille et de sa région (Gard). À travers ce cas d’étude, cet article défend l’idée qu’un site détient incontestablement une valeur patrimoniale dès lors qu’il émane d’une conception singulière de l’espace et du temps. Il conclura alors sur les manques épistémologiques inhérents à une réflexion sur les notions de valeurs, paysage, territoire, etc.
