La producción cinematográfica de Costa Rica experimenta un discreto despertar que se refleja, paulatinamente, en las ediciones del Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano de La Habana en el período 2010-2018. El presente artículo examina los filmes Presos (2015) de Esteban Ramírez, Violeta al fin (2017) de Hilda Hidalgo y Medea (2017) de Alexandra Latishev, en tanto muestra significativa de la producción tica. Mediante el análisis de contenido, la hermenéutica textual simbólica y la observación documental, se determinan los aportes estéticos de estos largometrajes al arte cinematográfico de ese país y su contribución a la producción fílmica centroamericana del período.
