Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Abstract The transport of proteins into plastids is dependent on how the different translocon components work together. One translocon component, Tic40, possesses functional features found in other proteins such as co-chaperones and may thus work similarly in this capacity. To enhance the understanding of Tic40’s mode of operation, a more basic characterization of the protein itself is required. This study was designed largely to examine the properties of recombinant Tic40 without the predicted transmembrane region. The properties of Tic40 revealed in this report are: 1) In plants, overall Tic40 levels can adjust to temperature; 2) Recombinant Tic40 proteins appear to display some level of functionality in the soluble form; and 3) Outside of a membranous context, the formation of complexes involving recombinant Tic40 can be influenced by temperature. The potential significance of these basic properties is discussed.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
