Bu çalışmada 16. yüzyılda yaşamış Mehmed bin Abdullah adlı bir yeniçerinin muhallefâtı üzerinden hayatına dair bazı çıkarımlar yapılmaya çalışılacaktır. Muhallefât kaydı üzerinden bir hayat okuması yapmak adına var olan bilgilerdeki boşluklar belgedeki bilgilerin anlamlandırılması ve bir bağlama oturtulması için yoğun tasvir tekniği kullanılmıştır. Sayısal verileri anlamlı kılmak adına Abdullah oğlu Mehmed’in yaşam standardı, aynı dönemde yaşayan farklı meslek gruplarından insanların gelirleri ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Tüm bu çaba 16. yüzyılda yaşamış sıradan bir insanın hayatını daha iyi anlamaya yöneliktir.
