Abstract
La Fabuleuse Histoire d’un Royaume , spectacle qui a reçu plus 1 200 000 spectateurs depuis sa création en 1988, contribue à la construction de la mémoire collective. La région du Saguenay y est présentée comme ouverte sur le monde, parfois sous le signe de la dépendance face à cet ailleurs, ce que fait oublier le brio des scènes, des costumes, des décors. Mais surtout, la population, confrontée à de nombreuses difficultés, se relève à chaque fois. La résilience de la communauté est mise en scène non seulement dans la trame du récit, mais dans le grand nombre de comédiens sur scène. Cette vision positive de l’histoire véhicule un certain nationalisme, et l’histoire du Royaume est aussi celle du Québec, de sa solidarité, des épreuves surmontées, et de sa place dans le monde.
