Abstract
The annual and summer water supplies were reconstructed over the four large catchments, LG2, LG4, Caniaspiscau and Churchill-Falls in Quebec-Labrador, using tree-ring proxies (chronologies of ring widths, maximum density and isotopic ratios delta-13C and delta-18O over the period 1800-2000). These reconstructions have made it possible to highlight important contrasts in terms of hydrological regimes between the east and west of the peninsula and to relay them with atmospheric circulation indices. The variability of water levels in the western region, mainly LG2, is very significantly correlated with the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO) while the variability of the water supplies of the easternmost basins (Churchill-Falls) is strongly correlated with the winter (December, January and February) North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) and Arctic Oscillation (AO) indices and with 'Pacific' indices such as ENSO over the first part of the 20th century.
