Abstract
El artículo describe el nuevo currículum para la educación básica, sus fundamentos socioideológicos y da a conocer un conjunto de críticas a éste, particularmente el hecho que se construya en torno a la tendencia tradicional y neoliberal así como la ausencia de finalidades sociales y educativas explícitas. Posteriormente se presentan algunos resultados de las investigaciones destinadas al análisis de las prácticas pedagógicas relacionadas con el nuevo currículum. Dichos hallazgos dejan en evidencia una serie de problemas graves relacionados con la aplicación del currículum actual que tienden a distorsionar los objetivos que éste buscaba lograr. El capítulo concluye que las investigaciones de las prácticas de enseñanza deben trascender la mera descripción, levantando lo que efectivamente hacen los profesores de básica en cuanto a la implementación de los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje.
