La priorisation des intérêts miniers au sein de la politique étrangère du Canada durant l’ère Harper (2006-2015) a semé beaucoup de confusion au sujet des politiques canadiennes de droits humains en Amérique latine. Le gouvernement libéral de Justin Trudeau a-t-il pu opérer une réelle transformation des politiques canadiennes de promotion des droits humains dans cette région ? Cet article propose une étude comparative des politiques canadiennes de droits humains au Guatemala et en Colombie afin de faire ressortir le caractère contradictoire des politiques « altruistes » menées dans les États au sein desquels le Canada a des intérêts dans le secteur extractif.
