Abstract
Los cirujanos orales y maxilofaciales enfrentan a menudo situaciones clínicas y personales complejas que retan su profesionalismo y que al ser potencialmente conflictivas requieren del reconocimiento y aplicación de ciertos valores y principios éticos con el fin de abordarlas y lograr una resolución respetuosa y justa. Con base en un núcleo de principios éticos fundamentales, los cuales se encuentran enmarcados en un manifiesto legal, el presente artículo propone una reflexión acerca del tipo de comportamiento y grado de compromiso que los cirujanos orales y maxilofaciales deben exhibir con los pacientes, los colegas y la sociedad.
