Abstract

Bir karşılaştırmalı eğitim çalışması olan bu araştırmanın amacı, Türkiye ve Kanada’daki (Alberta Eyaleti) Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretim Programlarını beceri boyutu açısından incelemektir. Araştırma deseni temel nitel araştırmadır. Veriler doküman incelemesi yoluyla toplanmış ve birincil veri kaynağı olarak her iki ülkenin resmi internet sitelerinden ulaşılan güncel Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretim Programları kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler betimsel analiz yoluyla analiz edilmiştir. Ülkelerin sosyal bilgiler öğretim programlarında yer alan temel beceriler ve sınıf düzeyi bazındaki beceriler irdelenerek “benzerlikler” ve “farklılıklar” temaları altında işlenmiştir. Bulgulara bakıldığında Türkiye’deki Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretim Programı ile Kanada’daki (Alberta Eyaleti) Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretim Programı’nda kazandırılması hedeflenen temel beceriler hem sayısal olarak hem de içeriklerinin açıklanması bakımından farklılık göstermektedir. Bunun yanında eleştirel düşünme, araştırma, iletişim, karar verme, problem çözme ve sosyal katılım becerileri ortak olarak her iki ülke programında da yer almaktadır. Ayrıca sınıf düzeyi bazında verilen becerilerin Kanada’daki (Alberta Eyaleti) Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretim Programı’nda dört ana başlık altında şekillendiği görülmektedir. Bu kapsamda elde edilen sonuçlar ilgili literatür ışığında tartışılmış ve birtakım önerilere yer verilmiştir.
