Abstract
L’auteur fait le récit d’une opération d’inventaire exhaustif des objets kanak dispersés dans les musées occidentaux. Il examine, en prenant appui sur deux exemples concrets, les résultats que l’on peut attendre de ce type d’inventaire en termes de muséographie et de réflexion sur l’utilité, pour la recherche, des nouveaux corpus ainsi établis. Ce témoignage éclaire de façon singulière le débat sur la restitution de leur patrimoine aux peuples colonisés.
