Abstract
Une migration d’enfants métis fut organisée à partir de la fin des années 1940, de l’Indochine vers la France. Cet article étudie le caractère genré de cette migration transnationale singulière qui a concerné plusieurs milliers d’enfants eurasiens et africasiens, beaucoup plus de garçons que de filles. Les modalités de l’éducation des filles ont été bien différentes de celles réservées aux garçons. La Fédération des Œuvres de l’Enfance Française en Indochine (FOEFI) a confié plus de 500 filles à un foyer tenu par des religieuses à Saint-Rambert-en-Bugey (Ain). L’expérience collective d’assimilation de ces petites filles et adolescentes a contribué à construire chacune d’elles en tant que sujet. Grâce à des archives inédites, il est possible d’interroger l’intimité de ces expériences individuelles pour évaluer les impacts des traumatismes subis et de la politique postcoloniale dont elles ont été l’objet, sur leur construction subjective.
