Bien que nous vivions une crise financière mondiale sans précédent, qui a des effets majeurs sur la consommation et sur le prix des métaux, nous sommes en droit de penser que la mise en œuvre des programmes de relance annoncés par les grandes économies de la planète permettra au secteur des matières premières de rebondir. Cette reprise devrait être soutenue à moyen et à plus long terme par les pays en émergence tels la Chine et l’Inde, qui vont irrésistiblement tirer sur l’économie mondiale afin d’accroître leur niveau de vie. Hormis les produits de substitution et le recyclage, la seule alternative pour satisfaire cette demande sera donc de produire davantage de métaux, mais comment ?
