It is important to understand the sequential ice pressure/load development during ice-structure interaction when the ship structure may not be a planar surface. Most laboratory tests were performed based on the assumption of flat or slightly convex/concave surfaces. This study plans to consider those cases where the structure is concave and obtained results were compared by flat surface test condition. As a result, ice-structure contact location, realistic contact area, and changes of pressure within the contact region were evaluated. Pressure distribution on non-planar surface showed a significant difference and induced higher ice load compared to a flat surface.
