Dans cet article, on explore les connexions possibles entre l’éveil aux langues et les pédagogies autochtones dans le but de familiariser les élèves francophones de l’ouest canadien aux langues ancestrales parlées par les Métis, un des trois peuples autochtones reconnus par le Canada ; et ce dans le but d’éduquer à la réconciliation et à la justice sociale. Après avoir expliqué brièvement le contexte social et éducatif, on expliquera la démarche pédagogique et didactique adoptée, en collaboration avec la communauté métisse et le milieu enseignant ; et on donnera quelques exemples d’activités de classe visant spécifiquement à éveiller les élèves, au-delà des langues présentées, aux réalités autochtones et aux enjeux de société contemporains.
