Abstract
Le chamanisme shipibo (Amazonie péruvienne) exerce aujourd’hui un attrait tout particulier pour une clientèle nouvel âge occidentale en quête d’expériences hallucinogènes — ce qui, à première vue, serait à l’origine d’une certaine forme d’acculturation de l’institution « traditionnelle ». Or, l’analyse de la cure thérapeutique réservée aux touristes occidentaux, de même que les dispositifs de traduction et d’appropriation de composantes modernes telles que la médecine allopathique, semblerait plutôt mettre en relief une certaine forme de résilience, de la part des chamanes shipibo, par le biais de la mise en avant du règne végétal dans les thérapies. En effet, les plantes utilisées seraient capables d’« indigéniser » le corps du patient occidental dans un but curatif, mais aussi afin de faire subir au touriste une forme de socialisation par les plantes. Une telle action constituerait une réponse aux bouleversements que connaît aujourd’hui la société shipibo dans le contexte de la globalisation.
