Determinantes da felicidade : um estudo comparativo entre o sudeste e o nordeste brasileiro

Abstract
O objetivo deste artigo é analisar os determinantes da felicidade no Brasil sob a luz de um enfoque regional, fazendo uso da base de dados da World Values Survey (WVS) para os anos de 2006 e 2014. Para tanto, foi estimado um modelo logit ordenado a partir de um conjunto de atributos pessoais dos entrevistados para duas regiões com características históricas e socioeconômicas bem distintas: Nordeste e Sudeste. O uso de dois anos permitiu analisar a alteração temporal daqueles que se autodeclaram felizes a partir da escala utilizada na WVS. Entre os principais resultados, é destacado que o estado de felicidade é mais intenso na juventude, atingindo um ponto mínimo na meia idade e voltando a crescer a partir de então. Adicionalmente, foi observado maior nível de insatisfação e infelicidade nas pessoas desempregadas, assim como na presença de filhos, resultados esses que levantam importantes questões em termos de planejamento e políticas públicas, como questões previdenciárias e políticas macroeconômicas. Finalmente, os resultados reforçam que maior renda per capita não torna a vida mais satisfatória.
