Il y a une grande production de jeux vidéo au Québec, et, en matière de recherche, la province a su favoriser les partenariats entre les entreprises vidéoludiques et les laboratoires universitaires, les unes et les autres ayant développé une expertise propre. Dans cet article, la question suivante sera d’abord posée : quels genres de recherches sont menées en entreprise? L’objectif n’est pas de faire un relevé systématique des diverses formes que prend la recherche dans toutes les entreprises localisées au Québec, mais plutôt de décrire les principales réalités qui s’y affirment afin de répondre à une seconde question : quel genre de recherche n’est pas menée en entreprise ? La réponse servira à tracer les grandes lignes de possibles partenariats avec des chercheur.se.s s’intéressant aux pratiques de jeu et aux communautés de joueur.se.s, thématique peu étudiée en entreprise. Parmi les laboratoires universitaires, celui de l’Université du Québec à Montréal fera l’objet d’une brève présentation, occasion de situer la recherche qui s’attache à la compréhension des dynamiques identitaires, communicationnelles et sociales au sein des communautés de joueur.se.s. L’article se conclut sur quelques perspectives d’avenir qu’ouvre à la recherche dans ce domaine le développement de l’intelligence artificielle et de l’apprentissage machine.
