Les types de milieux humides notamment les mares constituent des biotopes aquatiques essentiels dans le paysage de la Martinique. Elles sont caractérisées par la présence permanente ou temporaire, à très faible profondeur, d’eau douce par la prépondérance d’une phytocénose hygrophile et par l’existence d’un sol hydromorphe. L’objectif de cet article est d’identifier ces écosystèmes lentiques d’un point de vue hydrogéomorphologique et floristique. Nous avons inventorié vingt-trois mares. Puis, nous avons établi une première classification qui a abouti à distinguer les mares forestières des mares de savane. Ensuite, nous avons recensé sept espèces hydrophytes et un hélophyte.
