본 연구에서는 캐나다한인의 시문학을 대상으로 트랜스로컬의 정체성과 지향성을 살펴보고자 했다. 기존의 캐나다한인의 시문학 연구들은 주로 민족, 민족성, 한국인으로서의 정체성, 이민자 의식, 디아스포라의 관점의 연구에 머무르고 있는 아쉬움이 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 캐나다한인문인협회에서 발간한 기관지 『캐나다문학』(1-19호)에 실린 시들을 대상으로, 작품에 나타난 트랜스내셔널한 양상과 그 의미에 대해 조명해보고자 하였다.<BR> 캐나다한인 시문학의 양상으로는 ‘캐나다 한국인’으로서의 ‘자기소외 인식’과 ‘서로의 차이’를 인식하고 이를 ‘유지’하며 트랜스내셔널한 정체성을 구축하고자 함을 알 수 있었다.즉 캐나다의 국민이면서 한국인이라는 소수민족(이민자)의 위치 사이에서 길항하면서 ‘차이의 인식’과 나아가 ‘화합’을 꿈꾸는 방식으로 자신들의 정체성을 찾는 양상을 보이고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
