Abstract
Le roman de Céline Minard, Le dernier monde, se distingue par bien des aspects des oeuvres qui présentent un questionnement explicite sur la mémoire par la voie de l’enquête ethnologique ou historique, des traumatismes mémoriels, d’un imaginaire de l’archive, etc., et qui ont permis de montrer comment la littérature française contemporaine problématise la mise en forme et la médiation du passé, qu’il soit personnel ou collectif. Dans cette fiction post-apocalyptique qui met en scène Jaume Roiq Stevens, seul survivant d’une catastrophe inexpliquée qui a décimé l’humanité mais pas les autres formes de vie, l’enjeu mémoriel réside dans l’oubli qui menace le souvenir même de l’histoire et de l’espèce humaine. À travers les différentes étapes de la quête de Stevens, il s’agit de voir comment le dernier humain parvient à se libérer du poids d’une mémoire pathologique et à survivre à la disparition de son espèce.
