Abstract
As mulheres na Grecia antiga utilizavam as atividades exclusivamente do universo feminino para subverter a imposicao masculina. Neste contexto, a rainha micenica Penelope de Homero utilizou-se de seus afazeres e de sua metis para subverter algumas convencoes vigentes, como a de contrair um novo matrimonio. No poema Odisseia, Penelope se destaca como um dos personagens principais por estar em meio a uma crise. Enquanto seu marido Odisseu nao retorna da Guerra de Troia, e se defronta com inumeras aventuras em seu caminho de volta, ela precisa escolher um dos 108 pretendentes instalados em seu palacio, em Itaca, para esposa-la. Apesar de subverter as convencoes de sua epoca, a rainha micenica assume um carater heroico na epopeia, por manter-se fiel e proteger a honra de seu marido e de seu oikos .
