Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Our capstone team is working with UBC Parking and Access Services (UBC PAS) to create a dynamic parking sign which will allow for wireless stall restriction control. This project is a continuation of a previous year capstone project which UBC PAS wanted us to improve upon their design. The designed product will be installed in areas where stall flexibility is needed. UBC PAS will have access to an online management system to remotely control what is displayed on the sign and monitor the status of each sign. The final product will feature a programmable display showing parking information. It will be powered by rechargeable batteries and a solar panel. This document records all choices of components our team made in order to fulfill the functional and non-functional requirements while adhering to the constraints of this project. Justification for these decisions will also be included, with reference to the requirements specification key document. Disclaimer: “UBC SEEDS provides students with the opportunity to share the findings of their studies, as well as their opinions, conclusions and recommendations with the UBC community. Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
