This paper summarizes the results from three one-way slabs which were tested under gradually increasing shockwave loads using a high-capacity shock-tube at the University of Ottawa. The series includes one control slab built with conventional concrete and two companion slabs built with ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC). Results in terms of blast resistance, control of displacements, and damage tolerance are used to study the effects of the design parameters on the performance of the panels. Overall, the results demonstrate significant benefits associated with the use of UHPC in reinforced concrete slabs tested under extreme blast pressures.
