Abstract
La identidad de los herodianos en Mc 12,13 vinculados a la recaudación de impuestos para el César ha constituido un puzzle para los eruditos. Su carácter redaccional nos invita a estudiar la perícopa en el contexto vital del evangelista, el cual se sitúa en Roma tras la destrucción del Templo de Jerusalén. Con la imposición del fiscus Iudaicus, los dirigentes de la sinagoga romana de los “herodianos” probablemente jugaron un papel relevante en la confección del censo de los contribuyentes al fiscus Iudaicus, exigiendo ese impuesto a los judeocristianos. Este grupo se debatía en el dilema de “¿pagamos o no pagamos?” (Mc 12,14), situación a la que el evangelista responde con una disputa de Jesús con los fariseos sobre la licitud del pago del impuesto de capitación.
