Abstract
En 1938, el Estado griego encargó a los jóvenes arquitectos Alexandra y Dimitris Moretis el diseño y construcción del pabellón de Grecia en la Feria Mundial de Nueva York de 1939. La representación griega en la exposición “Ciudad del mañana” era solo un recuerdo del pasado: un pabellón con vitrinas de mármol mostrando antiguas esculturas griegas (tanto copias como originales). El lazo entre la antigua civilización griega y el modernismo estaba aún en juego, y “lo griego” era el vehículo del modernismo en la Grecia de entreguerras. Veintisiete años más tarde, el arquitecto griego-canadiense Ninos Chryssopoulos ganó el concurso para el pabellón griego en la exposición de Montreal ´67, con una propuesta de cubos blancos perfectamente alineados alrededor de un patio.
