Abstract
Écouter le son spatialisé au moyen d’appareils électroniques constitue une des nouvelles expériences arrivées au lendemain de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. En ce qui concerne l’histoire de cette nouvelle forme d’écoute audiotechnique en France, l’une des manifestations du son stéréophonique qui a eu le plus d’impact auprès du public fut sans doute les spectacles son et lumière, dont le premier de l’histoire eut lieu en 1952 au château de Chambord, avec une musique signée Maurice Jarre. La partie sonore de ce spectacle était le fruit d’un dispositif stéréophonique inédit. Les spectacles son et lumière ont initié de nombreux auditeurs à une nouvelle forme d’écoute directionnelle, une habileté exploitée ensuite par une génération de compositeurs d’avant-garde. Cet article se penche sur la dimension musicale de ces spectacles afin de mesurer leur impact sur l’entraînement de l’oreille du public général à la musique qui conquit l’espace au moyen de la stéréophonie.
