Abstract
À partir du cas particulier du chanteur populaire DJ Arafat, le texte se propose d’éclairer la relation qu’entretiennent les expériences de vie et les productions artistiques avec le déploiement d’un imaginaire utopique en Afrique contemporaine. Le texte défend l’hypothèse selon laquelle le style, l’esthétique et les symboles repris par le chanteur renferment les germes d’un projet d’émancipation, même s’ils véhiculent également des valeurs négatives (consumérisme, sexisme, ostentation, etc.). Ces dernières sont examinées, ni pour elles-mêmes, ni comme contre-utopie, mais plutôt comme reflet des pathologies d’une société à laquelle le chanteur prétend offrir une alternative. Volontairement fragmentaire, le texte esquisse des fondements théoriques pour des travaux de plus grande envergure qui permettront à la philosophie africaine d’accompagner les luttes silencieuses des exclus du contrat social.
