La malaria, un problema mundial de salud publica, por lo que estudiar los factores predisponentes de la malaria importada en paises no endemicos de las Americas durante el periodo 2013-2017 fue el objetivo de esta investigacion. Analisis situacional descriptivo de cohorte transversal, con enfasis en el contexto epidemiologico social de la region, a partir del analisis de datos registrados en la plataforma de informacion en salud para las Americas en el link: https://www.paho.org/data/index.php/es/temas/indicadores-malaria.html, realizando paralelamente una encuesta a viajeros infectados de malaria en otras localidades. El analisis de los datos mostro que la principal causa de la malaria importada (MI) es la migracion; registrandose 11.466 casos en las Americas, siendo EUA (n= 8780) y Canada (n=2217) los que reportan mas casos de MI. Aunque todas las especies de Plasmodium circulan en los paises no endemicos, fue el Plasmodium falciparum (n=5128) seguido del P. vivax (n=1063) los mayoritarios. Africa (n=12184) fue el continente origen de la mayoria de casos de MI en las Americas. De los 305 encuestados se evidenciaron entre los factores predisponentes microsociales que la ocurrencia de casos se inclina hacia hombres con edades entre 26-50 anos, nivel de instruccion educacion superior y ocupacion laboral clase no manual o intermedia. Entre los factores macrosociales se revela que la razon de la migracion es la busqueda de oportunidad, siendo viajeros frecuentes 2 o 5 veces al ano en busca de alternativas medicas. En conclusion, el incremento de casos de MI en paises no endemicos.
