Abstract
O NAFTA, ratificado em 1993 pelo entao presidente Bill Clinton, e composto por EUA, Mexico e Canada. Foi o arranjo institucional, que pautava o comercio entre os paises desde 1994 ate ser desfeito e substituido pelo United States Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA) durante o governo Trump (2017 - em andamento). A partir disso, o artigo tem como objetivo entender quais os principais aspectos da politica externa dos Estados Unidos durante os governos de Barack Obama e Donald Trump, no que concerne o NAFTA e a criacao do acordo substituto ao bloco. Alem disso, verificar se houve, ou nao, mudanca na formulacao da politica externa comercial dos EUA durante esses dois governos. A hipotese geral e a de que houve uma mudanca na politica externa dos Estados Unidos do governo Obama para o governo Trump no que tange o processo de integracao com o Canada e Mexico no âmbito do NAFTA, especificamente na variavel negociacao. Para tanto, sera usada uma analise historica como metodologia.
