Abstract
La sociologie du militantisme fait généralement du passage à l’acte la première étape du devenir militant. On gagnerait pourtant à déplacer le regard : comment en vient-on à se sentir politiquement engagé avant même toute institutionnalisation de l’engagement ? Cet article s’appuie sur une observation participante des dispositifs de recrutement de l’organisation trotskyste Lutte ouvrière (LO) et sur une douzaine de récits de vie avec des individus en situation de recrutement, qui ont vocation à être reconduits dans les prochaines années pour mesurer l’évolution du processus d’engagement politique des jeunes recrues. Ces dernières ne peuvent espérer être intégrées comme « révolutionnaires professionnels » avant plusieurs années. Les émotions sont l’instrument de leur transformation subjective et deviennent dès lors une voie essentielle pour pouvoir construire une analyse phénoménologique de l’engagement politique, irréductible à l’adhésion militante.
