Abstract
The author analyzes the origins of names of Korean settlements in the Russian Far East and their transformations during the period from 1860s through the early 20 th century. In the study, the author draws on a wide array of sources, including the collections of the Russian State Historical Archive of the Far East, personal archives of N.V. Kiuner, maps and notes of Russian explorers and travelers, and memoirs of people who lived in the region in the first quarter of the 20 th century.
