Celem opracowania jest przybliżenie planów turystycznych mieszkańców polskich miast w dobie pandemii wywołanej przez wirusa SARS-CoV-2. W badaniach posłużono się techniką ankiety internetowej. Kwestionariusz rozpowszechniony został na turystycznych grupach tematycznych, działających w serwisie Facebook. Osoby aktywne na Facebooku za pośrednictwem mediów społecznościowych przekazały swoim znajomym link do kwestionariusza ankiety. Wykorzystano tym samym metodę kuli śnieżnej, pozyskując 402 respondentów. Niespełna ¼ badanych deklarowała brak chęci wyjazdu turystycznego w 2020 r., głównie z powodu panującej pandemii i obawy przez zakażeniem koronawirusem. Zdecydowana większość badanych planowała przynajmniej jeden wyjazd turystyczny. Znaczna część z nich porzuciła jednak zamiar wyjazdów zagranicznych na rzecz wypoczynku w kraju. Respondenci deklarowali głównie chęć pobytu w hotelach i ośrodkach wypoczynkowych, jednocześnie oceniając te obiekty jako najmniej bezpieczne pod względem epidemiologicznym. Panująca pandemia był źródłem wielu obaw, ale badani znacznie bardziej martwili się podwyżkami cen niż możliwością zakażenia koronawirusem. Oczekiwano, że w obiektach noclegowych stosuje się dezynfekcję, a także przestrzega się obostrzeń w zakresie dystansu społecznego i noszenia maseczek.
