Con el fin de formar investigadores de alto calibre que contribuyan al desarrollo científico del país, tres universidades colombianas se asociaron para ofrecer un programa de doctorado en ingeniería, que incluye tres áreas de investigación: automática, energía e informática. El programa ha sido aprobado por el Ministerio de Educación de Colombia para ser ofrecido en modalidad presencial. Para cumplir con el requisito de asistencia física, los estudiantes se desplazan al campus de la institución en la cual se encuentran inscritos. Sin embargo, cada curso es impartido, a través de un sistema de videoconferencia, por un profesor que puede estar ubicado en cualquiera de las tres universidades asociadas. Debido a la crisis sanitaria provocada por la pandemia de COVID-19, ni estudiantes ni profesores han podido estar físicamente presentes en las aulas de telepresencia y se han visto obligados a realizar sus cursos totalmente a distancia. Esta nueva realidad ha sido el catalizador para que las autoridades universitarias quieran transformar la modalidad en la cual se imparte el programa. En esta entrevista, tres profesores presentan sus puntos de vista sobre esta transformación.
