Abstract
Cet article explique comment plusieurs dimensions de la nostalgie sont impliquées dans les initiatives de ciné-militantisme pour la préservation et la réouverture d’un ancien cinéma situé dans la banlieue de Rio de Janeiro (Brésil) : le Cine Vaz Lobo. Bien qu’inopérant depuis 1986 et déjà menacé de démolition, ce vieux cinéma art déco des années 1940 se tient toujours au milieu de la réalité socio-économique appauvrie de sa région. Il ne reste du Cine Vaz Lobo qu’une ruine préservée capable de catalyser des souvenirs liés à un passé local marqué par la fréquentation du cinéma, qui représente également un repère qui rassemble les résistances communautaires dans les sphères urbaines et sociopolitiques. La dynamique discursive et les engagements du Movimento Cine Vaz Lobo, le groupe qui lutte pour la survie de ce cinéma, trouvent dans la nostalgie une puissante ressource réflexive et critique, au service des luttes contre l’effacement des aspects identitaires et des relations historiques entre cinémas et villes.
