La educación superior es un campo de estudio reciente que en la Argentina comenzó a delinearse en las últimas décadas.Podría decirse que actualmente, en América Latina, la misma se encuentra en un contexto caracterizado por dos rasgos fundamentales: “la sociedad del conocimiento” y la “globalización”. Altbach y MCGill Peterson (2000) sostienen que la educación superior de esta región tiene raíces históricas similares y enfrenta desafíos contemporáneos comunes, sin por ello perder sus especificidades. El imperativo es enriquecerse con las diferentes experiencias de los sistemas educativos superiores de los distintos países para contribuir al mejoramiento del mismo. En este sentido, el desafío es propiciar canales de comunicación como lo fue el congreso que aquí reseñaremos.
