Ambiguë et déstabilisante, l’oeuvre d’Audrée Wilhelmy questionne les frontières du fantastique, construisant un univers où surnaturel et réel se côtoient alors que l’inexplicable, bien qu’inquiétant, semble malgré tout aller de soi. Développant une cartographie imaginaire aussi vaste que floue, l’écriture, mystérieuse, n’offre à nos questionnements que des réponses cryptiques. Si le fantastique se caractérise par son effet de lecture entre plaisir de l’indétermination et suspense, ce dernier laisse ici place au malaise de l’abject, à une fascination à la limite du dégoût. De berges brumeuses en forêts denses, l’autrice explore résolument les frontières spatiales, biologiques, morales et littéraires.
