Notes on the hemipenis and head scalation of Oligodon arenarius Vassilieva, 2015 (Serpentes, Colubridae)
Bibliographic record
Abstract
Traditionally, hemipenial morphology has been used as one of the key characters for identifying snakes. In kukri snakes, genus Oligodon, this organ is diverse in shape, length, papillae, spines, and flounces. Oligodon arenarius Vassilieva, 2015 was described from southern Vietnam as having short, unforked hemipenes without spines and papillae. Because of these hemipenial characters, the snake was not attributed to any species group of Oligodon. In addition, the snake has no loreal scales on its head. Based on an additional male collected from the type locality, we show that the hemipenes of O. arenarius in the original description were not fully everted. The fully everted hemipenes of this snake are deeply forked with two long and thin lobes, long, smooth, and without papillae. With this structure, the snake assigns to the O. cyclurus group. Further, a loreal scale is present on the left side of the head.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
