La formation à l’enseignement et l’acquisition d’habiletés à intervenir auprès d’enfants en difficulté de lecture

Abstract
La compétence nécessaire pour travailler avec des enfants ayant des difficultés d’apprentissage en lecture est considérée comme une partie importante de la formation des maîtres du fait de la tendance actuelle à intégrer les élèves en difficulté dans les classes ordinaires. L’acquisition de cette compétence est liée à une problématique bien documentée de l’écart entre la théorie et la pratique. Pour combler cet écart et faire acquérir la compétence dans le cadre de la formation, un cours a été construit autour d’une situation d’apprentissage en contexte, grâce à un partenariat entre l’Université Sainte-Anne et trois écoles du Conseil scolaire acadien provincial de la Nouvelle-Écosse. Un examen des situations problèmes dans le processus enseignement/apprentissage révèle qu’il est possible d’acquérir cette compétence, montrant par là que l’écart entre la théorie et la pratique peut être comblé. Toutefois, il faudrait poursuivre la recherche sur les obstacles auxquels les étudiants-maîtres doivent faire face et en tenir compte pour que ce type d’apprentissage en contexte puisse donner sa pleine mesure.
