Abstract
Entre las soluciones más controversiales para combatir la escasez de agua en algunas regiones se encuentra la privatización del servicio. Tal controversia se basa en las implicaciones sociales que esta solución trae consigo y que pocas veces son consideradas por los tomadores de decisiones. Aquellos que defienden el servicio público del agua, mencionan que existen poderosos argumentos en contra de la privatización, entre ellos la disolución del derecho humano al agua; la omisión de valores democráticos fundamentales, como la participación; y la disolución del papel del ciudadano bajo una lógica de cliente.
